Whether you are looking for part-time, or full time opportunities, a business with a health focus, or using a passion or hobby as your business idea, you will find all the answers you need with the Nurse Entrepreneur e-zine.
How?
Search it can do much more as well, and the really nice thing about it all....it is totally FREE to use.
Location counts for your business...but what about need?If you've ever taken any business courses, and even if you haven't, you are probably well aware of the term...LOCATION...LOCATION...LOCATION. If you're planning on a traditional store front business (as opposed to a web based) having a good location can really impact on the success of your business. My home healthcare products business originally started out in a building used by the local business venture help group. Bad choice! Then I moved it to a main street location....BETTER CHOICE The best spot however was within a local pharmacy store. I could have saved alot in moving expenses if I had just thought this out better in the first place.
Is the service or product you are offering needed in your community? Just because YOU think your business idea is cool doesn't mean anyone else does.
A little patience, a little market research can save you time and money. Patience...Patience...Patience.... Research...Research...Research...
Last week a brand new store opened here in Moose Jaw. It is a uniform shop, appropriately called SCRUBS. A nice, short, easy to remember name that tells consumers what the store sells. But I was worried about the NEED for such a store. So I went in and asked.... The lady who runs the store is a health care worker (I love it) and was running the business from her home originally (a great money saving idea). There are at least 2 other stores in town that sell uniforms but she has found a different angle...a USP (unique selling proposition).
...sound familiar!
1 - She has already set a name for herself (having started the business at home) 2 - There had been another uniform shop in town previously but it closed due to a family tragedy. She knew the owner of this store, knew she did a good business...NEED was there 3 - I've seen the type of uniforms the other stores here carry. They are fair quality, but basically the same design too. These other stores by the way are not specialty shops, but larger retailers who chose to carry this line of clothing because obviously they also see NEED 4 - This new store owner has brought in practical, affordable, trendy designs that are UNIQUE in many ways. (thicker stretch pant material and stretch material built in to side seems as an example) Plus...she has accessories that others don't carry. We're talking surgical caps, stethoscopes and other such articles.
:)
Nursing students...there is a chat / bulletin board area where you can ask questions and get answers from other nursing students. Very insightful indeed.
