Canadian nurses

There are places here in Canada that are really hurting for nurses, yet they still can't seam to treat the ones they have with any kind of respect as human beings. Several places I have worked I would never recommend to a colleague. I mean, this is 2007 and I've worked places that still have crank beds. That seams a little ridiculous in a country such as this. Governments promise much during election campaigns, they put money in to waiting lists for surgery, monies for recruiting doctors and nurses. How about some money for for more updated equipment.
I am meeting lots of new foreign trained nurses (from places like the Philippines and India) who have chosen to come to Canada for better pay and opportunities. Sometimes I feel guilty complaining about the things I do but we are supposed to be one of the richer countries. Maybe I'm just a tired old nurse.
