I was assigned in endoscopy unit, its a special area wherein we cater Gastrointestinal problems, we do different therapeutic and diagnostic procedures with relation to Gastointestinal and hepatobiliary problems like gatroscopy, colonoscopy,rubber band ligation for varices, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy,sclerotherapy,endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, esophageal dilatation and many more.
In our area we use advanced equipment.
As a nurse I assist doctors in performing the procedures, i prepare the instruments that will be used in different procedures. I also take care of the patient during the entire stay in the unit like attending to their personal needs, giving comfort, alleviating their worries and fears, strengthening their hope in case of difficult circumstances.
I give medications as ordered. And I can apply all of the responsibilities and duties of a nurse.
